Singapore

Welcome to the Lion City,
once a British outpost and
now arguably the most successful city-state in the world. With its blend of several cultures and four official languages -- Mandarin, Hindi, Malay and English -- Singapore is Instant Asia.
Lots of things for kids to do there, like the Jarong Bird Park, Sentosa Island and one of the very best zoos in the world. (I am a Zoo Expert, so trust me on this one!!)

I love signage !
I found this item in an antique store in Singapore.
Here's the lady who runs the antique shop. She told me, "I buy junk and sell antiques!" She had great junk!

I try to take in
as many museums as possible. Here I am with the guard
at the History Museum.

I'm happy with vagabonding but I won't turn my button nose up at luxuries. Here, the concierge at the world-renowned Raffles Hotel is giving me a few pointers on what's new in town.

I never drink alcohol -- kids should not even try it. But I had to step in for a second to check out Raffles' famous long bar, where Somerset Maugham used to sip his Slings.

Lunch time took me
to one of Singapore's famous "food centres" -- this country is the best place to eat on the street. Here's my new friend, the chef who made me noodles.

Dinner one night was
at a Malaysian restaurant.
Here I am with the waiter, who took me back to the kitchen to meet the cooks.
